48 Hours in Clacton-on-Sea

Day One

Morning: Fresh Sea Air & Iconic Pier Fun

🕘 9:00 AM – Seaside Stroll & Breakfast with a View
Start your day with a relaxing walk along Clacton’s promenade. Breathe in the fresh sea air, wander through the beautifully kept Promenade Gardens, and pause at the peaceful Garden of Remembrance. Then grab breakfast from a beachfront café or a cosy spot in town – perfect for a full English, fresh pastries or a strong flat white.

🕘 10:00 AM – Clacton Pier Adventure 
Clacton’s iconic Pleasure Pier is the largest in Europe and packed with fun. Take your pick from retro amusement arcades, indoor and outdoor rides, soft play, bowling, or the immersive Jurassic Pier experience. It’s a must-visit for families and big kids alike.

🕘 12:00 PM – Time for the Beach
Soak up the sunshine on Clacton’s sandy beach – ideal for paddling, building sandcastles, or simply lying back and listening to the waves. It’s one of the best-kept beaches in Essex and great for young families.

 

Afternoon: Family Fun & Seaside Treats

Head to one of the seafront eateries or grab fish and chips to enjoy on the beach. You’ll find everything from family-friendly cafés to restaurants serving international cuisine – many with outdoor seating and sea views.

Just a short drive from the centre, Hasty’s Adventure Farm is packed with hands-on fun for kids: animal encounters, climbing frames, giant sandpits and slides. It’s ideal for families with children aged 2–10.

Wind down with a traditional cream tea or an ice cream from one of the cafés near the Seafront Gardens. These colourful, floral gardens offer a peaceful escape and plenty of photo opportunities.
